Workshop Title Capacity Building for Asia Pacific Internet Community–Programs, Initiatives and Development
Thematic Area of Interest Development
Specific Issues of Discussions & Description For this session,  “Capacity Building for Asia Pacific Internet Community–Programs, Initiatives and Development” , we intend to discuss the terms of reference and initiatives of the APILP (Asia Pacific Internet Leadership Program) going forward.Asia Pacific Internet Leadership Program (APILP) is a multi-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder capacity building project on Internet Governance in Asia Pacific.  The overall objective of the APILP is to develop the APAC region’s Internet governance leaders of tomorrow with the intention of building a community that continuously stays engaged and contributes to the APILP.

At the sidelines of ICANN49 in Singapore, an open meeting for the APILP was organized and the participants proposed to form a working group to continue the work. After the meeting, a mailing list has been set up and a Term of Reference drafted based on the discussion at the meeting was posted for public comments at https://community.icann.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=48334730). Proposals for the APILP pilots have also been received from the members of the working group.  The Chair and Vice Chair of the APILP working group is expected to be nominated in early July.

The workshop will try to keep the momentum of the open meeting in Singapore, summarize the comments, proposals and suggestions on the draft ToR and move to work on the action plan to stimulate the various capacity building initiatives for Asia Pacific  Internet community.
